Betway is a betting operator that has always been at the forefront of the esports betting revolution, so it is perhaps not too surprising that they have now launched their own esports tournament.
Called The Battle of Betway, the CSGO tournament will kick off on October 20, 2021, and will feature such iconic teams as Ninjas in Pyjamas, BIG and G2 Esports. Brazilian teams MIBR and FURIA will also take part.
There will also be some serious talent on show in the broadcasting team for the event, with luminaries like Alexandre ‘Gaules’ Borba, Anders Blume and Auguste ‘Semmler Massonnat on commentary duties.
Betway is serious about esports
Betway continues to develop partnerships with many esports organisations, and now is a principal partner of Dota 2 team PSG.LGD. Betway also continued its partnership with Ninjas in Pyjamas, signing a new six-figure sponsorship deal with the team in September 2021.
The operator is delighted to be offering CSGO fans the chance to see their favourite teams and players in action at the event, which serves as a nice warm-up for the Stockholm Major. The Swedish tournament, a real highlight of the esports calendar, starts on October 26.
“Occurring just before the long-awaited Stockholm Major, this is the last opportunity for every CS:GO fan to see their favourite teams face off before battling for the top prize of the year,” said Adam Savinson, speaking on behalf of Betway.
Teams at The Battle of Betway will compete over a Best of One format (BO1). The event will take place across five streams, and players will compete in a round robin format before the tournament moves to its knockout phase, consisting of semi-finals and a final. Each of the streams will be hosted by one of the top broadcasting talents working at the event.
The players are pleased to be given the chance to compete against each other at a new event too.
“It’s cool for us and for the fans too, who will see a good match but in a really fun way,” said arT, on behalf of FURIA.
What tactics will the teams use at The Battle of Betway?
Given that the Stockholm event is occurring right after The Battle of Betway, it will be interesting to see what tactical approach is adopted by the teams taking part. They are unlikely to want to show off their latest tactical tricks and strategic innovations ahead of such a major event.
Instead, it seems likely that the players will just go all-out and look to brawl with their opponents, which could make the matches very entertaining indeed! The fans are likely to enjoy watching how things turn out, especially if the players decide to really go for the jugular and throw caution to the winds.
Ninjas in Pyjamas star Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz is certainly relishing the opportunity to try new things at the tournament. He said: “It’s going to feel great to play them in this format, it gives us an opportunity to try new stuff that we’ve only done in practice before.”
